Healthy Salad Prep

Healthy Salad Prep

I love sharing ideas that have made my life easier. At the top of the list is salad prepping for lunches. I first started doing this so I would have a quick and healthy salad to grab every day. I learned very quickly that these salads were also a hit with my girls, they love taking them to school for lunch, and it makes my heart sing that they are eating healthy. Nowadays I make LOTS of them so there are plenty for everyone for the week, I even let my husband have one if he is nice to me. They would also be perfect if you pack a lunch for work.

I love all the greens but my favorite salad mix is spinach, romaine lettuce and shaved brussels sprouts. I make a big batch at once and the romaine and brussels sprouts give it a nice crunch. You can buy brussels sprouts already shaved but if I have time I do it myself with my food processor.I found these perfect glass containers on Amazon. I prefer using glass so we don’t take any chances with chemicals being leached into our food with plastic. They are freezer, oven and microwave safe and they are the perfect size. I love them! If you are interested in buying some for yourself, click this link.Once you have your greens you can add any of your favorite salad ingredients. Today I used shredded carrots, red bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, steamed beets, cucumbers, red onion, rolled and sliced turkey breast, and sunflower seeds. Sometimes when I grab one to eat I will also add some fresh avocado and grated parmesan cheese. If I don’t have time to make my own salad dressing my most favorite store bought is Tessemaes. They use organic ingredients, good oils and no added sugar. Β It is so delicious and Whole30 compliant. You can find Tessemaes at King Soopers, Target, Whole Foods, and Natural Grocers. I did look for some today at King Soopers and they were sold out, most likely due to the #JanuaryWhole30. You can buy online if needed, I ordered these individual packets of the Lemon Garlic Dressing through Amazon and they are great to have around. Here is a link if you would like to check them out.Aside from salad dressings Tessemaes makes ketchup, buffalo sauce, and mayonnaise to name a few, and they are all fabulous and no sugar!

It is such a great feeling to have the fridge stocked with these wonderful salads. Try them out, and I guarantee you will have a healthier week. Planning and prepping is so essential for me to keep on track with my healthy eating goals.

Enjoy!
